Our people : Helene Lavoix

 Dr. Helene Lavoix works as an independent political scientist specialised in Strategic Foresight and Warning (SF&W) for conventional and unconventional security issues, researching for and advising various institutional actors on related matters. She serves as Senior Advisor to the Global Futures Forum SF&W community of interest after having been its coordinator between 2008 and the spring 2011. She has has taught SF&W at MSc level as Visiting Senior Fellow at the RSIS in Singapore in 2010 and in 2011.

She has published on SF&W, indicators, fragile states, complexity and genocide. Her current research interests focus on the future of the modern nation-state including the rise of new opposition movements and on developing a dynamic network-based methodology for actionable SF&W analysis.

Prior to that, she served as an analyst in International Relations (Eastern Asia and Globalisation) for the European Commission, created and headed in Phnom-Penh the Cambodian branch of a NGO in the field of Development during and after the UN peace-building mission and worked in finance.

She holds a PhD in Political Science and a MSc in International Politics of Asia (distinction) from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and a Master in Finance (Grande Ecole, France - valedictorian).
