Energy scavenging grows up

The advent of new technologies is enabling cheaper more reliable energy scavenging – the ability to generate small amounts of energy from ambient energy sources, in a variety of ways. The spread of in-built intelligence, fed by millions, if not billions, of remote sensors is, among other things, driving demand. Energy scavenging has reached a potential tipping point from niche, ‘interesting’ technology, into a mainstream, multi-billion dollar market.

ILM Foresight Fellow Applications – Global Health Portal

The Institute for Leadership in Medicine ( ILM ) and Shaping Tomorrow are working to create a foresight healthcare portal. More than 100 ILM foresight fellows will be using Shaping Tomorrow's system to create the site which aims to facilitate comprehensive access to foresight information for medical leaders, practitioners and scientists, and stimulate collaboration on healthcare future issues. The ILM's lead on this is Dr. Virginia Richardson , a Foresight Network member.

In response to the many inquiries of interest, the ILM board decided to launch the 2010 ILM Foresight Fellow application process a bit earlier than planned on February 1, rather than March 15, 2010. The application and details describing the ILM Foresight Fellow program is now available on The ILM website.

Members of the Shaping Tomorrow community and Foresight Network will be given priority consideration.

While the 2010 ILM Fellow application process is ongoing, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible if you are interested in the ILM Foresight Fellow program. Only 100 ILM Fellows will be selected for the Foresight Fellow program. In addition, early applicants may be given an opportunity to lead a specific research focus area such as Genomics, Nanotechnology, Patient Care, etc.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions please feel free to contact me at Foresight@TheILM.org.

We look forward to exploring the future of health together!

Best regards,

Virginia Richardson, DSL, SFILM
President, Institute for Leadership in Medicine

What's new on Shaping Tomorrow

Never been here before?
The help function has been removed and improved with the introduction of slide presentations under the clickable button "Never been here before?".

Presentations are available as follows:

Comments

My and Our Comments have been reorganised to begin with the comments field open in latest date order. This reduces the number of required clicks, and is designed to show everyone's comments at once.
All Comments follows the same design but is first organised by subject and topic. Clicking on a subject or topic then lists the relevant comments.

Link Trend or Insight
We have similarly made it easier to link to or add a Trend to an Insight and vice versa. The new process requires only one click instead of two.

Sort
The sort buttons have been removed as they proved not particularly useful to members. Removal of this function makes most site pages cleaner.
